Ariadna Jacqueline Reyes Curiel is a CCoE Senior Consultant at Servicios Liverpool, S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Liverpool - a leading retailer that operates the largest chain of department stores in Mexico. Ariadna has an MBA in Management and Business Administration from Escuela Europea de Dirección y Empresa del Real Centro Universitario Escorial Ma. Cristina adscrito a la Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. At Liverpool, Ariadna has been instrumental in the implementation and development of Liverpool’s Product MDM solution from Stibo Systems – a solid foundation for Liverpool’s ecommerce success.
Why did you pick a career in master data?
I think it chose me. I was working with the implementation of an ERP when I got the opportunity to work with the product master data management project in Liverpool.
What do you like most about your job?
I love to work with new projects. In each one we have the opportunity to learn more about the company, to work with new teams and to discover new challenges.
Facing new challenges always brings out a sense of fear in me. But solving them makes me grow professionally. It makes my day-to-day tasks very dynamic and I like that very much about my job.
What do you see as the biggest barriers for more women in the master data field?
More than a barrier, I see a challenge to keep up with technology. Choosing what is best for your business will vary from company to company. But doing more with less; reducing costs and maximizing results, is everyone's goal. When we talk about master data, the case is similar. You should focus on best practices and on creating a better experience for the user.
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in master data?
I think more women could benefit from viewing technology not only as a work tool, but also as an opportunity to learn. Currently, there are many online courses and information that can help you stay informed and updated. Seeing what others do and learning from them can also help you see things from another perspective, which is always necessary in this changing world.
Does your organization work to promote gender equity? If so, how?
Staying at the top of your game is a challenge, and finding the balance between being a professional employee, being a woman and being a mother is difficult, but not impossible. I think many companies are in the process of learning how to help women balance this.
Here at Liverpool I have colleagues and managers who understand this and support me. I have flexibility and I am recognized for my work and commitment, which is of high importance to me.
Share a fun fact about yourself
I am a runner, and I am always competing with myself to improve. Maybe that’s why people sometimes ask me “Did you win?”. I find this amusing.
